Rohingya issue is the most talked issue at present. It is not a national issue for us only. It has become an international issue. The Rohingyas are the Muslim ethnic group of Myanmar in the state of Rakhayen. Myanmar is a country of Buddhist majority. The Rohingyas are living there for centuries. But there are some Buddhist leaders who want to drive the Rohingyas away from Myanmar. According to them, Rohingyas are not native to Myanmar. Besides, the Rohingyas have been facing unbearable discrimination for years. It seems that they are alien in their own land. They have no citizenship in the country. They are deprived of basic needs and human rights. There is a militant group in Myanmar called ARSA fighting to retrive the rights of the Rohingyas. In the name of keeping law and order, Myanmar army tortured them so much that they were bound to leave their mother land and be refugee in Bangladesh. The exodus started a decade ago. Recently, more than five lakhs Rohingyas reached Bangladesh to save their life. Bangladesh is a poor and over populated country. It’s almost impossible for her to afford a total of ten lakhs extra people. At present they are living in different areas of Cox’s Bazar. Social order is breaking down for this great number of jobless and homeless people. They are getting engaged in different anti-social activities. Bangladesh government as well as the world community is trying to send them back. Recently a treaty has been signed between Bangladesh and Myanmar to bring them to Myanmar. We hope it will be finished soon and the Rohingyas will get back their home and motherland. And at the same time, we will get free from the burden of this extra refugees.
