Composition: The Post Man

The post man is a well known person. He goes from house to house in his uniform. He has with him, a leather bad hanging across his shoulder. He delivers parcels and money orders to the people. All men wait for him. They want to have through him news of their friends and relatives. As he passes by, all people-men and women, young and old-put him eager question if he has brought letters for them.

The postman does not care for sun and rain, hot and cold. He begins his work with the arrival of the mail bags at the Post Office. The postman opens up the bags, sorts the letters and other postal goods and fixes the date stamp  upon them. Then he goes out on his usual round with them. A postman has to do more other duties too. He sells postcards, envelopes and stamps to the people. He also collects letters from the letter box or direct from the village people. He sorts these letters and puts in the mail bags. He then seals the bags and makes them ready for sending to the head office.

The postman is dutiful. He is very regular in his duties. He always bears in his mind the importance of his work. So, he does not keep sitting at a place and kill his time in idle talks. He walks along quickly and does his duties properly. He is always watchful an carful. So he hardly makes over a letter or postal thing to a wrong person.

The postman is a petty Government servant. He is ill paid. So he lives with his wife and children in wants. But he does not mind for that. He always gives valuable service to us. We should pay due respect to him.
